Chicago ILJim Reese
Bill
started his railroad career in August,
1965 as a car department laborer for
the SOO Line at Schiller Park Illinois.
Bill became a Carman in 1966. Shortly
thereafter, he joined the wrecking crew
and held just about every job in the
car department over the years. Bill specialized
in air brake repair. Bill was promoted
to wrecker engineer and was active in
the Union Lodge 627. Bill held several
Union jobs and became Vice Local Chairman.
Bill started the Foreman’s relief
job in 1976 and was promoted to Locomotive
and Car Foreman at Schiller Park in June
of 1980. After the Milwaukee merger,
he went to the Bensenville Yard as a
Car Shop Foreman. Shortly thereafter,
he returned to the Carman’s craft
as a Car Inspector. Bill returned to
being active in the Union in Local 6266
as FST and then Local Chairman. Bill
was elected to Joint Protective Board
600’s Executive Board in July of
1994 and later became the General Secretary
Treasurer/Vice General Chairman of JPB
600. When the Joint Protective board
closed in June 2006, Bill became an Asst.
International Representative working
full time for TCU. He retired from that
job in 2009. Bill has been married to
his lovely wife, Darlene, for 48 years.
They have two grown sons, Mike and Tony
and have four grandchildren Jordan, Lexis,
Karris, and Stephanie. Bill currently
works for our office in Chicago, Illinois
and surrounding areas. |
