Patrick Perry

I graduated from high school in 1967 and married my wife, Susan in 1969. We have 2 children, Kenneth of Mondamin, Iowa; and David of Munich, North Dakota. Sue and I have 7 grandchildren.

I started working at the Union Pacific Railroad Shops in Omaha, Nebraska in January 1968 as an electrician’s apprentice. After a 4-year apprenticeship, I was furloughed and worked as an electrician in the Maintenance of Way department. I have worked in Kansas, Missouri, Wyoming, Nebraska and Iowa.

I became Local Chairman of IBEW Local 618 in Omaha in 1985 and became Vice General Chairman of IBEW System Council #3 in 1988. I became an Executive Board member in 1990. I became Vice General Chairman, Secretary -Treasurer of System Council #2 in February of 1994. I held that position until my retirement in May of 2010. I have 41 years of railroad experience.

I have completed classes at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and the George Meany Institute of Labor for the following: Investigation Procedure Training, IBEW Negotiating Strategies, IBEW Leadership Training Course, Arbitration and Presentation, Computer Techniques, Effective Writing, Leadership Skills, Collective Bargaining, Organizing Under the Railway labor Act, and Financial Officers School at Iowa State.

I have been a member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors since 1984. I received my Iowa Electrical Contractors License in 1975 and my State of Nebraska Master Electrical Contractor License in 1977.
